This Kansas City COVID test site is closed on Thursday because of the freezing weather

With the gates locked, Phil Butler, a business agent at Heavy Construction Laborers, posted a sign noting that the drive-thru COVID-19 testing scheduled at the facility at 7820 Prospect Ave., on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, was cancelled. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services posted on their website that the extreme cold weather force the cancellation of the testing.

COVID-19 tests are in high demand in Kansas City, and as the freezing temperatures dominate the area, one testing site had to close early.

The testing site at Heavy Construction Laborers, which is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, closed because of the weather. They’re expecting to open back up at the same time Friday, but the weather conditions could keep it closed for another day.

If the testing site on Prospect remains closed, The Star’s service team put together a guide on where to get tested, where to get an at-home test and how the state of Missouri will send a COVID-19 test to you.
