Missouri is once again shipping COVID tests to residents. Here’s how to get yours
Missouri residents can once again get a free COVID-19 test shipped to their home through the state health department.
In May, the Missouri Department of Health and Human Services began offering at-home PCR tests to residents. Thursday, the state reached its order limit with Fulgent Genetics and residents were told they could not order a new test until Jan. 1.
Thursday evening, the department announced on Twitter that it has added more tests to the program allowing residents to continue ordering at home tests through the end of the month.
How to get a test
Residents can order tests on the state’s website which brings them to Fulgent Genetic’s page. Residents can use MOPROMO at checkout to get the test for free.
Shipping is free with standard 2-day shipping, overnight shipping will cost a resident $16.
Once you take the test using the nasal swab, pack it up as the instructions say and return it to a FedEx collection site within 24 hours of when you swab. The state will run your test in a lab, and then will send you the results to your email within the next two days.
Any delays in shipping may void the results, so your testing kit includes a FedEx shipping label for overnight delivery. You should take and ship the test Monday through Thursday, so it can reach the lab in time. A test shipped on the weekend or a holiday may not reach the lab in time and also void the results.
With rising COVID-19 cases in the Kansas City area, residents are reporting long wait times at walk in and drive through testing locations and little access to at-home tests at pharmacies. A list of testing options in Kansas City can be found here.
