Johnson, Wyandotte counties add 92 COVID-19 cases. Missouri data not available again.

Johnson and Wyandotte counties in Kansas on Sunday reported 92 total new confirmed cases of the coronavirus, according to health officials.

But it remained unclear how many new infections had been recorded across the Kansas City metro area this weekend. For the second day, Missouri’s public COVID-19 database had not been updated because of technology upgrades, according to the state’s Department of Health and Senior Services.

On Twitter, the agency said it went live Friday night with a new disease surveillance system. It expected to have updates Sunday morning, the department said Saturday night.

“Our team is working diligently to migrate data but has run into technical difficulties,” the agency tweeted. “We appreciate your patience as we make this transition.”

As of Sunday afternoon, the virus dashboard showed it was last updated Friday.

Health officials in Johnson County reported an additional 60 cases Sunday, bringing the total infections there to date to 5,703, including 103 deaths. Residents tested positive at a rate of 7%.

In Wyandotte County, 32 more infections were confirmed, bringing the total infections to 4,896, including 99 deaths. Residents tested positive at a rate of nearly 18%.

Across Kansas as of Friday, the last day for which statewide data was available, 30,638 people had tested positive and 380 people had died.

When Missouri last updated its data Friday, there had been 57,379 infections and 1,301 deaths. Before the technological difficulties, Missouri had been updating its data on weekends, unlike Kansas.

As of Friday, there had been 3,909 cases and 53 deaths in Jackson County, 1,011 cases and 20 deaths in Clay County and 343 cases and 10 deaths in Platte County. In Kansas City, there were 6,476 cases and 61 deaths.
