KCK butcher shop temporarily closes after 2 employees test positive for COVID-19

A longtime Kansas City, Kansas, butcher shop is temporarily closing its retail operations after two employees recently tested positive for the new coronavirus.

In a Facebook post, Bichelmeyer Meats said it voluntarily closed to “prevent further illness to other employees and customers.”

Bichelmeyer Meats said it will not accept new orders at this time, but current orders for half beef and hogs will proceed.

The announcement came Tuesday as the Kansas City metro region surpassed 5,900 COVID-19 cases, including 206 deaths.

That includes 1,726 infections and 76 deaths in Wyandotte County, according to data maintained by The Star.
