Johnson County reports one new COVID-19 related death, 12 new cases

Johnson County health officials reported one new death related to the coronavirus on Friday, bringing the county’s total to 23.

The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 rose to 355, an increase of 12 in the past 24 hours, according to statistics local health officials released Friday morning.

The number of tests totaled 3,543, with 10% returning positive.

There have been 110 patients hospitalized, up from 107 on Thursday. Another 197 patients have been treated as outpatients, up from 184 the day before. One new patient has needed ICU care, bringing the total up to 46.

Currently, there are 73 hospitalized COVID-19 patients from the county and 53 are under investigation.

Statewide, nearly 1,600 people in Kansas have tested positive for the coronavirus and 80 people have died.
