Kansas coronavirus cases grow to more than 425, with 9 deaths reported

Kansas has reported 428 cases of the coronavirus, the state said Tuesday, which represents a 14% increase over the previous day’s figure.

Nine deaths have also been confirmed, including the most recent one in Johnson County reported Tuesday.

At least 79 people have been hospitalized, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment said.

Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly issued a statewide stay at home order that went into effect Monday.

Coronavirus is present in 39 of Kansas’ 105 counties. Johnson County accounts for more than 30% of the state’s cases.

More than 177,000 people in the U.S. have been infected by the virus.
