Google Fiber says it missed goal in Mission Woods, not Mission Hills

Google Fiber had hoped to provide high-speed internet and video service to 100 percent of Kansas City, Kan., as well as Mission Woods, Westwood and Westwood Hills by this time.

When Google Fiber said it could not meet its goal of providing high-speed internet and video service to all of Mission Hills as planned, it meant to say Mission Woods.

The company this week amended an earlier amendment to its filings with the Kansas Corporation Commission. It first said it was unable to serve 100 percent of Kansas City, Kan., Westwood, Westwood Hills and Mission Hills within five years, as was its plan in 2012.

In its new amendment, Google Fiber said the mention of Mission Hills was a “clerical error.” It meant to say Mission Woods.

Mission Hills has about 3,600 residents. Mission Woods has about 200.
