Restaurant with freshly made pasta to close in Johnson County
A beloved Italian restaurant in Prairie Village is closing its doors this month.
Va Bene, at 8232 Mission Road, which focuses on simple, fresh and authentic flavors centered on freshly made pasta, announced the closure on Instagram on Thursday.
“Since opening in 2020, we’ve had the privilege of sharing countless meals, celebrations, date nights, family dinners, and memories with this community,” the post said. “Your support has meant everything to our team, and we’re so grateful for every guest who chose to dine with us.”
Va Bene features dishes like Traditional Puglia Orecchiette (Scimeca’s Italian sausage, broccolini, lemon, pine nuts, crushed pepper, white wine cream, garlic breadcrumbs, pecorino; $22) and Italian Braised Short Rib (braised beef short rib, Parmesan polenta, pancetta, roasted brussels sprouts, sweet demi glaze, parmesan tuile; $29).
The restaurant is owned by W. VinZant, a prominent local restaurant group, since it took over what was Urban Kitchen in 2020. Now, many of the favorite scratch-made pasta dishes will be served at other VinZant restaurants, including Louie’s Wine Dive in Overland Park and Gram & Dun on the Plaza. The staff, according to the post, will serve at other restaurants under the same ownership.
“If Va Bene has been part of your story, we’d love the chance to welcome you back one last time,” the post said. “Stop in before the end of July to enjoy your favorite dishes, raise a glass with us, and help us celebrate everything we’ve built together.”
Va Bene is open every day at 11 a.m. and closes Monday through Thursday at 8:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 9:30 p.m. and Sunday at 8:30 p.m.
