This Colorado chicken sandwich chain is coming to Kansas City
A Denver fast-casual chain known for its stacked chicken sandwiches has its eyes on Missouri, Kansas and other Midwestern states as it makes plans to rapidly expand over the next five years.
Birdcall announced its plans to expand in a press release this week. The chicken sandwich restaurant hopes to open 85 locations in just five years, and the chain listed Kansas City as a “key market” in those plans.
It isn’t immediately clear when the Kansas City area may get its first Birdcall, or where exactly the restaurants are headed, but the release said it hopes to open six to eight eateries in Kansas and up to 18 in Missouri. Other metro areas in the two states that Birdcall is targeting include Wichita, Topeka, St. Louis and Columbia.
Birdcall may pop up in other Midwest states, like Ohio, Indiana, Nebraska and Wisconsin.
“The Midwest represents a tremendous opportunity for Birdcall,” Mark Lohmann, CEO of Birdcall, said in the press release. “From our award-winning chicken sandwiches and other handcrafted menu offerings to our commitment to innovation and community, we believe Birdcall offers an experience that resonates with today’s guests and is a natural fit for the region.”
The future restaurants join 17 Birdcall locations that are located in Colorado, Arizona and Texas. Birdcall is also expanding in other parts of the U.S., with nearly 20 locations opening soon.
Each restaurant will follow Birdcall’s modern aesthetic and include self-order kiosks in around 2,300-square-foot spaces. Locations will offer both indoor and outdoor seating that will accommodate up to 150 customers, according to the press release.
The fast-casual chain serves sandwiches and tenders made with “all-natural chicken,” its website said. Its menu is made up of its signature sandwiches — like the Bee’s Knees with Mike’s Hot Honey, Calabrian chili aioli and pickled banana peppers, or the Rancher with bacon onion jam, white cheddar and Bird-B-Q sauce — as well as salads, chicken tenders, chicken sandwich sliders, tater tots, house-made sauces and milkshakes.
