Lee’s Summit could get another drive-thru coffee chain this year

Lee’s Summit may get another spot for drive-thru coffee in a lot that used to house the fast-casual Italian restaurant Fazoli’s, according to city filings.

Mach 7B LLC submitted a development plan application in April to bring Arkansas-based 7 Brew to 498 Missouri Route 291, Lee’s Summit’s second location of the fast-growing drive-thru coffee chain.

Benjamin Stites, a partner with Mach 7B and a 7 Brew franchisee out of Overland Park, confirmed the new location. He will join Barry Reese, his partner in Mach 7B, which operates four 7 Brew coffee stands in the Kansas City area and Fort Worth.

The plan is to open by the end of the year, Stites said, but the opening date could change due to pending permits.

According to documents, developers proposed a 530-square-foot drive-thru located near a stretch of other commercial properties, like Jimmy John’s and Pegah’s Family Restaurant. The spot used to be a Fazoli’s, which served pasta, pizza and breadsticks before it closed in May 2025, reported the Kansas City Business Journal.

According to planning documents, the 7 Brew lot will offer two drive-thru lanes but no indoor seating, as is typical of other 7 Brew locations. Stites said he plans to hire around 80 employees to work the new coffee stand in Lee’s Summit.

The chain of coffee stands carry sweet hot and iced coffee beverages — a banana bread mocha, toasted marshmallow latte and a raspberry truffle macchiato, for example — in addition to energy drinks, teas, fizz sodas, lemonades, smoothies and shakes that are all customizable.

The Arkansas chain opened in 2017 and has quickly grown across 38 states with more than 700 locations. Missouri has 45 stands, while Kansas has 19 locations.

The other Lee’s Summit 7 Brew, located at 1430 NE Douglas St., is operated by a different franchisee, according to documents filed with Lee’s Summit and the Missouri Secretary of State. The KC suburb also has a Dutch Bros Coffee on Chipman Road.
