Johnson County Indian restaurant with massive menu opens: chaat, chai, more

A new Indian restaurant in Overland Park has dozens (and dozens) of menu options.

Appetizers, chaats, desserts, chai, curry, naan, tandoori, momos, pastas, burgers, special rice, sandwiches, briyani, falooda and much more.

The list of options at Hashtag India, 10150 W. 119th St., stretches across the wall.

It opened about a week ago in a former restaurant space, which was most recently Sidos Cuisine. Before that, the space had been home to Sahara Mediterranean since 2021.

Hashtag India, meanwhile, is a chain that was founded in 2023 in McKinney, Texas, with the goal of spreading authentic Indian food with a modern flair. The Overland Park spot is its 14th location — the first one in Kansas.

There’s something for all tastebuds at Hashtag India. Frankies, similar to a burrito, come with chicken tikka, paneer tikka, or goat kheema. Indian-style burgers include paneer tikka burger, chicken tikka burger and a spicy chicken burger (each $9.99).

Non-vegetarian curries include chicken korma ($14.99), shrimp tikka masala ($16.99) and butter chicken ($14.99).

Indian street food snacks include mirchi bajji (three stuffed peppers for $6.99), masala vada (four for $6.99) and egg bonda (two for $5.99). Chaats, or savory Indian street snacks, are also available with a variety of fillings.

The former Sidos space has been transformed into a restaurant with neon signs, faux greenery, tapestries depicting temples and spiral light fixtures.

Hashtag India will be open from 11 a.m. to midnight Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to midnight Saturdays, and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays.

Indian restaurants have been popping up around Johnson County in the last few years. A few months ago, Indian Belly opened in Olathe at 1084 W. Santa Fe St. Desi Chowrastha also opened in the former Copps Pizza space at 6301 W. 135th St., with Indian ice cream shop Naturalz opening up just a few weeks ago. Sidos still offers its cuisine inside the Parlor food hall in the Crossroads at 1707 Locust St.
