Johnson County Italian restaurant closes. ‘Thank you for the support’
An Overland Park Italian restaurant of three years has permanently closed — though its owners teased a hopeful future.
Nico & Ana’s Italian Street Food has closed its location in the Fountains shopping center at 6541 W. 119th St.
The restaurant announced its closure via social media a few days ago.
“We would like to start by saying thank you for the support we had from all our loyal customers,” the post read. “We need to regain strength and knowledge for our next chapter.”
In its post, the restaurant expressed a desire to continue serving customers in the future.
“This is not a good bye, but we plan to open in the coming future,” the restaurant wrote. “Those details are not known to us yet.”
Ownership could not be reached immediately to provide further information about the closure.
Armando de la Torre, co-founder of Mi Ranchito, opened Nico and Ana’s in early 2023 .
“I’ve loved Italian food all my life. There are Italian roots in my family — my father — and Italian family friends,” he told The Star at the time of its opening.
De la Torre named the spot after his late parents, Nicolas and Ana.
Mexican chain Mi Ranchito has a more than 20-year legacy in the Kansas City metro. Brother and Mi Ranchito co-founder Rulber de la Torre plans to open his own spot called Rulber’s Restaurant Mas Cantina in Prairie Village at 5358 W. 95th St.
