This ‘swanky’ new cocktail lounge is coming to downtown Olathe
Despite the recent influx of bars and restaurants in burgeoning downtown Olathe , there aren’t many upscale drink spots nearby.
Enter Brandon Blum and his new concept The Office Lounge: an intimate space for patrons to enjoy mixed drinks and small bites.
“Swanky lounge is kind of what I’ve been saying,” Blum said. “Fun, some live music. Groovy, good environment.”
His new spot will live in the basement of 110 Cherry St., an office building home to lawyers and therapists. He hopes to open the spot in the next couple of months.
To access The Office, customers will enter the building and take the elevator down to the basement. Blum promised that signage will point patrons in the right direction.
In tune with the lounge’s name, he’ll open it about 3 p.m. so folks can bring their laptops and work. He’ll have some USB ports, pads of paper and a printer to play on the office theme.
The energy will change as the night wanes. He plans to keep it open late, until 2 a.m. on some nights.
He plans to host bands two to three times a week.
“My hope’s that people will come for happy hours before dinners and after dinners,” Blum said. “Bring your date, bring your wife, bring your anybody.”
Blum is still working out the menu, but he hopes to offer some charcuterie, desserts and small plates. It will be more focused on drinks, however.
“High-end cocktails,” Blum explained. “It’s gonna be uber hospitality. … I want to make it very unique.”
He’s excited to bring the concept to the burgeoning area, which is looking forward to several openings over the coming months.
Developer Lane4 plans add two rooftop restaurants, including a new Austin’s Bar & Grill location. Frozen yogurt shop Fifth & Emery will open on the north end of the same building.
Pizza 51 opened its second location in downtown Olathe last June at 200 S. Kansas Ave., inside a historic gas station.
Third Street Social is aiming to open at 135 S. Kansas Ave, at the end of April or early May. Char Bar also plans at 200 W. Santa Fe St. in the coming months.
