Texas-based shaved ice chain opens first KC-area location in Johnson County
A Texas-based shaved ice chain opened its first Kansas location in Overland Park on Tuesday.
Bahama Buck’s, an island-inspired eatery, serves shaved ice, smoothies, açaí, yogurt bowls, sodas and RedBull, according to a news release. The chain offers over 100 flavors, like Nerds Rainbow, Lemonberry Warhead, peach cobbler and gummy bear.
Founded in 1990, Bahama Buck’s said in the release it strives to create a taste of paradise in an island-inspired atmosphere.
On its website, the brand promises its ice is never crunchy and “so light and airy it rivals Mother Nature.” Its shaved ice flavors include shark attack with Sour Patch-flavored sauce and cracklin’ cotton candy (with popping candy pieces).
“Bahama Buck’s is committed to offering a great atmosphere, the friendliest crew, and a wide range of tropical dessert options for you to choose from,” Blake Buchanan, founder and CEO of Bahama Buck’s, said in a release. “We are devoted to flavoring lives by what we consider to be the heart of our mission, ‘Bless Our Guests by Creating the Ultimate Tropical Dessert Experience!’”
Bahama Buck’s also offers dietary options like zero sugar, nut-free and gluten-free options. The first Kansas City-area location sits at 11110 W. 135th St. across from St. Andrews Golf Club. There are currently 120 shops across 14 states and Puerto Rico.
Just down the road from Buck’s is Tad’s Shaved Ice at 8940 W. 135th St.
