Wagyu tomahawk, steak tartare: See new 1587 Prime menu details and photos
1587 Prime — a steakhouse in partnership with hospitality group Noble 33 and Chiefs players Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce — is releasing more details ahead of its opening.
Snippets of the restaurant’s menu and photos were shared in a media release from the restaurant Monday. The first customers will set foot inside the 1500 Baltimore Ave. space inside the Loews Hotel on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Executive chef Ryan Arnold is serving up a variety of menu options: Japanese A5 New York strip, boneless ribeye, 40-ounce Wagyu tomahawk and more.
Other menu items include:
- Steak tartare (hand-cut wagyu, egg yolk, truffle aioli, crispy capers, shallot, toasted sourdough)
- Togarashi fried chicken served with a honey trio (hot, chive, wasabi) and green onions
- Mahomes ketchup flight (an ode to the QB’s preferred steak pairing featuring a lineup of three unique, in-house ketchups
Michelin Guide “Exceptional Cocktails” winner Juan Carlos Santana is serving an expansive wine, beer and cocktail menu.
Some cocktails that will appear on the menu:
- Kingdom Come (Casamigos blanco, 400 Conejos)
- Pierre Ferrand (dry curacao, absinthe, fluffy orange and pomegranate)
- Showtime (aged rum blend, toasted coconut, coffee, coors light syrup and lime soda)
- The Alchemy: (clarified citrus vodka blend, dry curacao, aronia berry, cranberry, strawberry, lime and oolong tea, most likely inspired by Taylor Swift’s song about her now-fiance, Kelce)
Prices have not yet been disclosed for any of the menu items.
Inside 1587 Prime in KC
The space was designed by New York firm The Johnson Studio at Cooper Carry — the same design firm handled The Stilwell, also inside the Loews.
The restaurant’s tunnel-like entrance is meant to emulate the entrance into a stadium. On the ground floor, a 20-seat bar will neighbor a stage that hosts nightly live music. More banquet seating is scattered throughout the restaurant, which has 238 seats in total.
Up a winding staircase, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the city. A 40-person private dining room, complete with a private entrance, also lives upstairs. (Previously, director of hospitality Sacha Tanha told The Star the dining room was a special request from Mahomes and Kelce.)
Noble 33 — created by Tosh Berman and Mikey Tanha — operates Toca Madera, Casa Madera and more.
“With 1587 Prime, we didn’t just set out to create another steakhouse,” Berman said in a media release. “We worked with Patrick and Travis to capture the essence of Kansas City — its pride, its hospitality, and its passion for great food — while staying true to Noble 33’s brand vision and design aesthetic.”
Reservations are booked 30 days in advance and released daily.
A video shared earlier this month shows Mahomes and Kelce showing down on wagyu and other dishes.
In the video, a still shot of the menu appears. It includes A5 carpaccio (wagyu beef, pickled mushrooms, pine nuts, umami aioli and shaved black truffle), tuna tartare (truffle ponzu, avocado, chili oil, lime air, airy rice cracker), A5 Tajima wagyu beef, a steak flight, and an A5 wagyu burger.
A 1587 chop salad is also available (it includes beef salami, chickpeas, tomatoes, pepperoni, provolone, olives, pine nuts, artichokes and red wine vinaigrette).
Several celebrities and media personalities (including comedian Eric Stonestreet) have received VIP invites to the steakhouse via 1587 Prime-branded footballs signed by Mahomes and Kelce.
“This is like the golden ticket,” comedian Adam Ray joked in a video on social media.
