Nearly century-old Kansas City bar is opening another metro location
The history of The Peanut — an iconic Kansas City dive bar — stretches back to 1933.
Many things have changed about the business since then, including the fact that it no longer solely exists on 5000 Main St.
Soon, The Peanut will open its ninth location in Belton, at 140 Cedar Tree Square. The bar will move into the former Brewbakers Bar and Grill space.
Brewbakers closed in Belton last year but still has a location in Lenexa at 9482 Renner Blvd.
Brent Sierks, a member with Peanut Midwest Group said the new spot is looking to open in early September.
“Be ready, because when we’re open, we’re gonna be busy,” Sierks said. “Everybody’s welcome to come and see the growth of what we’re doing.”
The new spot will serve the same beloved menu items longtime customers have grown used to tasting — wings, BLTs, salads, etc.
Peanut Midwest is a licensee that operates all but two Peanut locations. The others — 5000 Main St. and 418 W. Ninth St. downtown — are owned by Melinda Kenny.
Peanut Midwest’s other locations include 5400 Martway St. in Mission, 12921 State Line Road and 6409 N. Cosby Ave.
