Popular pizza joint will open its third Kansas City area location
Imo’s Pizza, known for its cracker-thin crust and gooey Provel cheese, plans to open its third Kansas City area location later this year.
Franchise owner Jamie Poulsen is bringing the St. Louis-based chain to a 1,500-square-foot space at 8502 North Jefferson St., in the same building as the recently opened KPOT.
The sign is up on the building, and management said to expect a fall opening, though no official date has yet been set.
The pizzeria will be a part of the ongoing redevelopment of the former Metro North Mall site in the Northland, now known as Metro North Crossing. In addition to KPOT, new tenants at the $250 million mixed-use property include the 52,000-square-foot golf entertainment venue T-Shotz, Whataburger, Hawaiian Bros, Dutch Bros, Third Street Social and Andy’s Frozen Custard.
Once opened, the pizzeria will be the Kansas City area’s third Imo’s, behind a Kansas City, Kansas, location at 4200 Rainbow Blvd. and an Overland Park location at 11552 W. 135th St.
Imo’s was founded in St. Louis in 1964. The chain has since grown to nearly 100 stores across Missouri, Illinois and Kansas.
