Tulsa-based dessert chain opening first spot in Johnson County
A Tulsa-based dessert chain with more than a dozen locations is hitting the KC metro.
Sugar Llamas is opening its first area spot at 8971 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park.
The business filed a permit with the city of Overland Park this week to open in the Promontory Shopping Center. The company could not be reached for comment to discuss the deal or detail when the shop will open.
Sugar Llamas sells coffee, ice cream and mini doughnuts. Its nearly two dozen doughnut flavors include chocolate chip pancake, total turtle, lemon bar, sopapilla and cherry bomb.
Mini doughnuts are ordered in packs, with sizes ranging from a half-dozen box to 100 minis.
Sugar Llamas has spots in Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas. Its first Kansas location opened in Wichita in 2023.
Recently, local chain Donutology announced that it would retain its original Westport location but exit its trolley location in the Rivermarket after two years.
