A national fast-casual burger chain is opening its fourth metro location and its second in Johnson County.

Shake Shack, which offers crinkle-cut fries and a selection of classic and limited-edition shakes, will open in the Merriam Grand Station development.

Drake Development announced on its social media page that Shake Shack will take up a space at 8811 Shawnee Mission Parkway.

Neither Drake Development nor Shake Shack could be reached Monday morning to confirm an approximate opening date.

Shake Shack’s locations in the metro are 239 W. 47th St. on the Country Club Plaza, 5200 W. 119th St. in Leawood’s Town Center Plaza, and 2051 NW Lowenstein Drive in Lee’s Summit.

The Merriam Grand Station development, once the site of a defunct Kmart, is home to several other restaurant tenants.

Most recently, Wichita-based breakfast restaurant HomeGrown opened at the development at 8807 Shawnee Mission Parkway. On Wednesday, Iowa-based bar and grill 30hop will open next to it.

This weekend, Drew Brees-backed burger restaurant Smalls Sliders opened in Blue Springs at 704 NW Mock Ave.
