Johnson County home goods store is closing, with major sales. ‘It’s been amazing.’
A downtown Overland Park home store is closing its doors after three years.
The Old Mango, 7230 W. 79th St., is shutting down April 5.
The shop will have sales and be open on select days until then: this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the March 28 and 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and April 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Old Mango sells furniture decor and more. Items are up to 50% off.
Owner Courtney Caldwell said she’s shifting her focus to her private design business. She’s also been asked to come on full-time as a designer at a Kansas City area-based company providing services to national parks.
Her husband, Trevor, is co-owner of The Old Mango.
Caldwell encouraged her customers to shop locally, saying many small businesses are struggling right now.
“It will continue to be important to support local businesses in the current economic climate,” she said.
A “for lease” sign sits outside her store. Caldwell says she’s not sure whether another business has signed a lease. The spot will be near the new Overland Park Farmers Market space when it opens in 2026.
Caldwell said she’s grateful for her customers, and she hopes to continue to volunteer at events in the Overland Park area.
“We just really appreciate all the community support that we’ve gotten. It’s been amazing,” she said. “Since we opened, we’ve just become a cool part of this downtown Overland Park community.”
