Bar and grill serving burgers and brews opens in the KC area. Soon: Johnson County
Iowa-based bar and grill chain 30hop, which boasts extensive beer and food options, has made its entrance in the Kansas City area.
The Lee’s Summit spot softly opened in Drake Development’s Streets of West Pryor district at 1020 NW Pryor Road, Suite G, a few days ago and celebrated its grand opening Tuesday.
One of the chain’s owners, Dan Blum, said he was excited to unveil the first spot in the Kansas City area — but it won’t be the last.
Another is coming to Merriam this May at 8715 Shawnee Mission Parkway, in Drake’s Merriam Grand Station.
“I grew up visiting Kansas City quite frequently as a kid and have done so since,” Blum said. “Kansas City was a market on our radar for a long time.”
30hop has three locations in Iowa and one in Omaha. While Blum would like to see more expansion in the future, he said he’s focusing on his current restaurants before growing too quickly.
When the chain first opened its Coralville, Iowa, location in 2014, it had 30 brews on tap (hence the name). It’s since expanded its tap system to include 60 beers.
Blum said the Lee’s Summit location has 32 beers on tap. Its lunch and dinner menu includes its ahi poke bowl, 30hop burger (white American cheese, chili crunch aioli, onion jam, potato sticks, house pickles, shredded lettuce, pickles, tomatoes), and barbecue mac and cheese.
On Saturdays and Sundays, it offers brunch: berry French toast, biscuits and gravy, avocado toast and more.
Blum called the chain a “category killer,” offering a place for corporate meetings, dates and casual lunches with families. A little bit of everything.
A patio will welcome customers when the weather improves.
“We’re pumped to be open,” Blum said.
Nick the Greek and Magic Noodle will also join the Streets of West Pryor in the coming months, according to Drake’s social media.
Georgia-based Chicken Salad Chick opened in the development last month.
