This KC area health restaurant just opened in ‘exploding’ Johnson County development
A health-conscious restaurant that began in Leawood has opened its second Johnson County location.
Enjoy Pure Food + Drink began serving customers Monday at its new spot: 8729 Scarborough St., in the Lenexa City Center area.
The menu is the same as its sister space, but founder Staci Cross predicts the Lenexa spot will attract a crowd of young professionals.
The new restaurant neighbors the Kiewit campus, and AdventHealth is building its newest hospital nearby. The Lenexa Public Market has several restaurant stalls and hosts live music on Friday nights for much of the year.
“This area is exploding with new businesses,” Cross said. “We’ll see if that translates to more business. But very excited about Lenexa.”
Even more hotels, apartments and businesses are on the way. Developers say several more projects will take shape in Lenexa City Center over the next several years, though much of the 200-acre site has already been planned.
Enjoy is part of a Copaken Brooks-led project dubbed Restaurant Row, which will include Tupelo Honey, Cactus Grill, Zhoug Mediterranean and more restaurants in future phases.
To match the growing downtown area’s modern style, Cross said she wanted to give the new restaurant an updated look.
“Most people are struck by how bright and clean and pretty it is,” she said. “We built from scratch here.”
Enjoy opened in Leawood’s Mission Farms eight years ago, at 10573 Mission Road.
The Lenexa spot keeps many of the same elements as the original location: lime green accents, several houseplants, a to-go fridge.
Takeout orders have a separate counter and entrance. A bar sells cocktails, like the Bee’s Knees (Tom’s Town gin, lavender, lemon and Prosecco).
Some items on the menu: the ahi poke bowl (sesame-crusted seared ahi tuna, fresh mango, pickled ginger, avocado, cucumber, sweet potatoes, umami rice and soy glaze) and the chicken Parmesan (lightly breaded chicken breast with Parmesan, house-made marinara and pesto, served with mashed cauliflower and broccoli).
Enjoy sells a variety of bottled, cold-pressed juice, like the Cleanzing juice: green apple, lemon, zucchini, cucumber, kale, spinach, romaine lettuce, parsley, ginger and sea salt.
The Lenexa location is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.
