As of last week, visitors in town to see a KC Current game have a new and rather convenient place to stay: Origin Hotel Kansas City, which abuts the parking lot of CPKC Stadium along the Berkley Riverfront.

On the ground floor off the lobby is Show Pony, an Americana-inspired restaurant that aims “to stay true to Kansas City, using ingredients from local farms to tell the story of the riverfront and surrounding neighborhoods,” chef Michael Olson said in an email.

The space includes a bar, a dining room, outdoor dining and a private room.

The bar is outfitted with Etch-a-Sketch machines on the tables and has a Skee-ball machine in the corner. The menu there features the Smoked and Smashed burger (bacon jam, quadrello, pickle, ancho aioli; $20), an avocado croissant (kale, Caesar dressing, tomato, Grana Padano cheese, Calabrian chili, olives; $17) and Bourbon Chicken (bourbon hot honey, jalapeño cheddar biscuit, miso aioli; $15).

In the dining room, which is lined with brown banquettes and red and plaid booths, the menu features the Salt Creek Smoked Short Rib (potato feuille, mole negro, radish, pickled carrot; $56) and the Buttonwood Farms Chicken Crown (corn, cippolini, Calabrian chili; $30).

Show Pony also serves a breakfast and brunch menu. Items there include a yogurt parfait for $12, French toast for $12, and Eggs in Purgatory (spicy sausage, Calabrian chili, tomato, baked eggs, Grana Padano hearth bread) for $19.

Dinner hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The bar serves food and drinks between 4 and 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday, 4 and 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 4 and 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
