Fast casual chain building a new Johnson County cafe. It’s in this growing development
Panera Bread is building another location in Overland Park, according to city documents.
The fast casual cafe has its sights set on the growing 95th Street and Metcalf Avenue development, which was once the site of the old Metcalf South Shopping Center.
The new Panera’s address will be 9691 Metcalf Ave., near Chick-fil-A.
Panera has more than a dozen locations in the Kansas City area, with spots nearby at 11022 Metcalf Ave. and 8803 W. 75th St.
Meanwhile, three more retail projects are in the works at the development.
A new mini golf course and restaurant called Tap Ins is planning a 3.6-acre spot at 95th and Metcalf.
Drive-thru coffee chain Dutch Bros also has plans to build a location at 9721 Metcalf Ave. Arizona-based health chain Salad and Go has also filed paperwork to open a location at 9525 Metcalf Ave.
Panera closed a location at 1850 W. 39th St. last year, leaving only three inside Kansas City limits. A majority of its area locations are in the suburbs.
