Two years after opening, upscale Johnson County restaurant has closed. Is it for good?

Service seems to have stopped at The Rockhill Grille in Leawood’s Town Center Crossing.
Around this time in 2022, the spot at 4311 W. 119th St. was celebrating its grand opening. Now, the upscale American eatery is listed as “permanently closed” on Google Maps.
Neither the restaurant nor the shopping center responded to The Star’s requests for comments. The Leawood location’s address has been taken off The Rockhill Grille’s website.
It’s unclear when exactly or why the restaurant closed.
The original Crossroads location, 2000 Grand Blvd., is still open. That spot has been around since 2016.
The restaurant is named after William Rockhill Nelson, a real estate developer who co-founded The Kansas City Star in 1880.
Before The Rockhill Grille took over the Leawood space, it was home to La Bodega, which closed during the pandemic.
The owners of The Rockhill Grille, Bret Springs and Zach Marten, opened The Wise Guy, an Italian bar and restaurant earlier this year at 1924 Main St.
The Rockhill Grille serves pork chops, scallops, salmon, oysters and other dishes. The remaining location is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays. It is closed Mondays.
