Prairie Village’s Shinju Sushi and Hibachi is closed.

On Thursday, the restaurant at 3935 W. 69th Terrace in The Shops of Prairie Village was dark and empty. A handwritten sign in the window reads: “We’re closed.” Its owners could not be reached for comment.

Management with First Washington Realty, which owns the shopping center, declined to answer whether the restaurant is closed temporarily or permanently.

Shinju opened in 2021 in the old C. Frogs BBQ Steak Whiskey space.

The restaurant featured six hibachi grills and a sushi bar. It sold sushi rolls, sashimi, stir fry and other Japanese dishes.

“Everything is top quality,” owner Jennifer Zhang told The Star after it opened.

Earlier this year, Gravity bar also closed in The Shops of Prairie Village at 4160 W. 71st St.
