Flying Cow Gelato and Annedore’s Fine Chocolates opened a new downtown Overland Park location Wednesday, the second such combination shop in Johnson County.

The shop opened at 7321 W. 80th St., next to the Made in KC gift shop.

Flying Cow and Annedore’s first combo shop is in Westwood Hills at 5000 State Line Road. Flying Cow’s Shawnee location, 11210 Johnson Drive, is just down the street from the other Annedore’s spot: 1107 Johnson Drive.

Owner Sheri Weedman was behind the counter Wednesday morning, scooping gelato for her first customers.

“This is a great area,” Weedman said. Her shop is just around the corner from the popular Overland Park Farmers’ Market, which will run until late September.

The shop’s side door opens to the Strang Hall patio, with several outdoor tables and chairs.

Across the street, Skin: The Clean Beauty Store hopes to begin selling its lotion, soaps and other products next month.

Annedore’s opened more than 30 years ago. Weedman purchased the copmany in 2016 and decided to open a gelato shop inside the Westwood Hills location in 2022 to boost business over the summer.

Today, Flying Cow offers flavors like coffee, salted caramel, mint chip, pistachio and birthday cake.

Annedore’s sells a variety of chocolates, including melt-aways, chocolate-covered almonds and chocolate espresso beans.

For now, the Overland Park store will be open Tuesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. But hours might change, Weedman said.
