Sahara Mediterranean Food in Overland Park has closed for good.

The location at 10150 W. 119th St. had been closed for a few months. Ownership considered reopening if the shopping center couldn’t find another tenant, Realtor Tarek Jebali said.

Now, with a deal on the horizon, Sahara’s owners have officially decided not to reopen in Johnson County.

Jebali said he can’t disclose who’s moving in until everything is finalized.

The owners decided to focus their attention on their other location, at 705 S.E. Melody Lane in Lee’s Summit, according to Jebali.

The Overland Park restaurant, which opened in 2021, sold gyros, chicken shawarma sandwiches, hummus plates, kebabs and other Mediterranean dishes.

Sahara in Lee’s Summit is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Pickup options are also available.
