Campesino Mexican Grill & Cantina — a Mexican restaurant selling tacos, fajitas and more — just opened in Mission.

The new restaurant has taken over the site of the former Stroud’s Express & Catering, carryout restaurant, at 5405 Johnson Drive, which closed last spring.

The new restaurant opened in the Mission Mart Shopping Center last Friday.

It also sells specialty drinks like its “boss” margarita (tequila, lime, orange, agave, Grand Marnier), and daiquiris. Other menu items include its pork tamales, quesadilla fajitas and carne asada street tacos.

Campesino is open Sundays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Stroud’s, a longtime Kansas City icon, also closed its express location in Lee’s Summit but still has full-service restaurants in Overland Park and the Northland.
