Betty Rae’s ice cream opening first Johnson County location Friday, with sweet deals
Kansas City’s Betty Rae’s is opening its first Johnson County location Friday, and it’s celebrating with free scoops.
The Olathe location at 10470 S. Ridgeview Road will give away up to three scoops for the first 50 customers in line, starting at noon, the company announced Thursday.
The location is offering a few other deals, too, including:
Free waffle cone upgrade from 2 to 3 p.m.
Buy one pint, get one free from 3 to 4 p.m.
Buy one Ice Cream Sammie, get one free from 4. to 5 p.m.
50% off flights and floats from 5 to 7 p.m.
$1 off scoops from 7 to 10 p.m.
Customers also have the chance to win free ice cream for a year (though it’s unclear what exactly that entails) by giving their email and phone number at checkout. Five winners will be chosen by the end of the day.
Betty Rae’s was founded in 2016 and has spots in Waldo at 7140 Wornall Road and the River Market at 412 Delaware St.
Owner Matt Shatto purchased the business in May. In August, he told The Star he’s looking for even more spots.
“We’re bringing a local concept that is really best in its class,” Shatto said in a previous interview.
