National outdoor clothing retailer The North Face will open a location in Leawood’s Town Center Plaza this fall.

The new location at 5004 W. 119th St. is projected to open Sept. 29 next to Bath & Body Works, according to a statement from the shopping center.

Founded in 1966, The North Face carries fleece outerwear, jackets and sweatshirts, as well as gear for camping and hiking.

While other stores in the metro carry The North Face clothing, this will be the Kansas City area’s second brick-and-mortar dedicated solely to the brand. Its other location is on the Country Club Plaza at 312 W. 47th St.

The clothing store will move into the old J. Crew location, which closed last year.

Other retailers set to open in Town Center Plaza later this year include Pandora Jewelry and health food restaurant Whole Harvest.
