The longtime J.Crew shop in Town Center Plaza is closing.

The retailer sells “timeless” clothing and accessories for the family. It opened the Leawood store, at 5004 W. 119th St., in mid-2009. It plans to close on Jan. 23. Items are currently 50% off for in-store purchases, according to an area manager and email alerts sent to customers.

Corporate officials did not provide a comment.

J.Crew also has a Country Club Plaza shop.

Other recent retail closing announcements include Macy’s in Lee’s Summit, and the Victoria’s Secret and Pink stores on the Plaza.
