A website called Restaurant Review published the “Top 5 Most Popular Fried Chicken Restaurants Kansas City, Missouri” on Thursday.

It based the list on prior customer reviews.

No. 5: Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken. But the metro’s only area locations are in south Overland Park and Kansas City, Kansas.

No. 4: Rye restaurant on the Country Club Plaza, so it qualifies. It also has a Leawood location.

No. 3: Stroud’s Restaurant & Bar with multiple area locations including the longtime Northland spot.

No. 2: Go Chicken Go also has multiple metro locations, including one on Troost Avenue.

But the No. 1 listing is for Black Dirt.

“If you ever plan to go to this restaurant, try to go at lunch timings because their lunch menu is way better than their other menus. And never forget to have some chicken tenders on your table,” Restaurant Review says.

There’s a problem though. Black Dirt, just south of the Plaza, closed in late 2019. The owners of Black Dirt couldn’t be reached for comment.

Restaurant Review’s readers were already pointing out the errors by Friday morning.

“Gus is the best.. However Gus fried chicken is not in Missouri it’s in Kansas so it shouldn’t be on the list. … and Black Dirt is permanent closed.”
