Another Johnson County Chick-fil-A opens this week. Whataburger will be its neighbor
Chick-fil-A fans will have another Overland Park stop when the chicken chain opens Thursday at 95Metcalf South.
Derek Nassick is the independent franchised owner/operator for the location, at 9591 Metcalf Ave., which will have about 120 employees.
It will be open for just drive-thru only — for now. A Chick-fil-A official didn’t know when the dining room would open.
Hours will be 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Instead of the traditional grand opening giveaways to the first 100 customers, this location will give 100 local heroes a card for 52 free meals, and it will donate $25,000 to Feeding America to be distributed to its partners in the Kansas City area.
Chick-fil-A has several Johnson County locations, including one at 7500 W. 135th St. in Overland Park that has been temporarily closed for remodeling. It was scheduled to reopen Tuesday.
The chain was founded in 1967 and is known for its freshly prepared chicken sandwiches and other items, along with its friendly customer service.
95Metcalf South, the former Metcalf South Shopping Center, also is home to such retailers as Lowe’s, Andy’s Frozen Custard and Longhorn Steakhouse.
Whataburger is going through city planning to open in the corner lot this summer.
