Boozy snow-cones amid the gardens: A peek inside Kansas City’s new Electric Park
Kansas City distillery J. Rieger & Co. announced earlier this year it would be expanding in the East Bottoms.
Now its Electric Park Garden Bar is set to debut on Thursday at 2700 Guinotte Ave., with an open-air patio bar and an adjoining atrium to serve as an indoor/outdoor extension of its tasting room.
“It’s less about the bar concept and more about the park and the gardens,” said Andy Rieger, president. “So for adults it’s a place where we all want to come and have a drink and enjoy the scenery.”
Electric Park is named for the old amusement park that the Heim Brewing Co. operated in the East Bottoms from 1899 to 1906 before it moved to 45th Street and The Paseo. It is said to have inspired a young Walt Disney, who lived a few blocks away.
The new Electric Park will feature frozen cocktails, boozy snow-cones and a food trailer permanently on site.
Seating areas will include a gazebo that seats 30, fire pits and industrial heaters, as well as the fully heated atrium.
