Nation’s first Flip’d by IHOP to open in Kansas City region with pancake bar, burgers
The nation’s first Flip’d by IHOP restaurant will open in Lawrence later this month.
IHOP took a building at 4661 Bauer Farm Drive for an official Sept. 28 opening, but it could have a soft opening on Tuesday.
While Flip’d by IHOP will offer dine-in service, it is designed more for to-go and delivery.
It will have signature pancake bowls (with a choice of toppings such as fresh berries, scrambled eggs, hickory smoked bacon and cheddar cheese), a build-your-own pancake bar, egg combos and egg sandwiches (made with two scrambled eggs and toppings on a brioche bun), and made-to-order burritos.
The P.M. Menu includes Black Angus steakburgers, buttermilk crispy chicken sandwiches, wraps and grab-and-go salads. It also will have freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee drinks.
IHOP originally planned to target large metropolitan areas but now also is looking at suburban markets and non-traditional venues. In May it announced plans for a New York location in the summer and said it was looking at two cities in Ohio, as well as Lawrence. But the New York opening has been pushed back.
