New Country Club Plaza shop to have chocolate-covered strawberries, cheesecake apples
Less than a year after opening in Oak Park Mall, sweets shop Sugahrush Berries is expanding to the Country Club Plaza.
Owner Tameca Williams first started taking custom orders for her treats in 2018, making them in her Prairie Village home.
Her Overland Park shop opened in November. Now she is taking the former Panache Chocolatier space at 418 Nichols Road. A Sept. 5 opening is scheduled. It will be one of the few Black-owned retail shops on the Plaza.
“I wanted to have a centralized location, in addition to the suburban location, and easy access to Kansas and Missouri customers,” Williams said. “And with an upscale atmosphere.”
She sells chocolate-dipped strawberries, apples stuffed with cheesecake, candied grapes, Oreo/Rice Krispies Treats and more. She also takes custom orders.
Panache closed in 2019 and reopened in Leawood’s Park Place.
