Another Whataburger restaurant is coming to Johnson County, courtesy Patrick Mahomes

Overland Park now has three Whataburger restaurants in the works.

KMO Burger LLC has submitted development plans for Whataburger Galleria, in the Galleria 115 development under construction at the northwest corner of 115th Street and Nall Avenue.

KMO Burger is the new Whataburger franchise led by Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Texas-based investors.

Earlier this week it announced plans to open 30 locations from Wichita to St. Joseph in the next seven years. But it will concentrate on the Kansas City metro.

That includes two locations in the works for the Northland for 2022.

Four other Whataburger locations are expected to open this year in Blue Springs, Independence, Lee’s Summit and south Overland Park.

Others that were already in the works for next year are in Raymore, Kansas City, Kansas, and at 95th and Metcalf in Overland Park.

Real estate sources say Whataburger is looking at sites in Olathe, but the Olathe Planning Commission said the company has not submitted any plans yet Another possible site is west of Quivira Road on 95th Street in Lenexa, as well as midtown in Kansas City.
