Kansas City Monarchs Baseball shop at Legends to sell T-shirts, hoodies, onesies, more
Earlier this year, the new owners of the Kansas City T-Bones baseball club said the team would adopt the name of Kansas City’s storied Negro Leagues team.
Now a Legends Outlets Kansas City pop-up shop will give Kansas City Monarchs fans a first look at the team’s new merchandise.
The shop, at 1843 Village West Parkway, C-103, near the central court of the Kansas City, Kansas, mall, is scheduled to open at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
It will have Monarch-branded apparel, including T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and hats — in adult and children’s sizes — along with onesies, keychains, pennants, coffee mugs and glassware. It expects to have some new merchandise every week.
Fans also can purchase season tickets to the games, and, starting April 16, they can purchase tickets to individual games.
The pop-up also will have have a display featuring stories and images from the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum through at least May 31. The nonprofit museum owns the rights to the Monarchs name, and officials previously told The Star they expect a sustainable revenue stream through sales of tickets and merchandise.
The original franchise was among the most successful in the league, with legends such as Satchel Paige, Jackie Robinson and Buck O’Neil.
The Kansas City Monarchs Baseball Club will start the 2021 season on May 18 at the Legends Field, near the mall.
