Kansas City menu debuts: Joe’s new Z-Man, downtown’s burnt end nachos, $200 martini

Kansas City-area restaurants are rolling out limited-edition items, new spring menus and some permanent additions. Here are some that caught our eye.

Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que: It is teaming up with King’s Hawaiian on a new Z-Man sandwich.

King’s Hawaiian Z-Man will have Joe’s pulled pork tossed in Joe’s sweet and spicy Rocket Glaze, topped with roasted pineapple, provolone and crispy onion rings on toasted King’s Hawaiian sliced bread for $9.99.

It will be available starting Thursday through the end of the month at the Joe’s locations in Leawood, Olathe and Kansas City, Kansas, as well as nationwide through Joe’s website and Goldbelly.

Lazia restaurant, Crossroads Hotel: Its new The Dirty Martini is made with a choice of gin and dry vermouth and costs a whopping $200 for two. The fine print? It comes with a room for an overnight stay.

The restaurant also is doing a “surprise menu” each week, focusing on a geographic region, a particular cooking technique or a classic bottle of wine.

The four-course tasting menu costs $60 per person, and a wine pairing is also available for an additional $35 per person. Reservations are available on Fridays and Saturdays, which are the two days that the restaurant is currently in operation.

This week, as well as April 9 and 10, the “Emilia Romagna, The Heartland” will include stuffed quail and polenta cake.
