‘The 101 Best Pizzas in America’: Kansas City, Kansas, pizza restaurant makes the cut

The Daily Meal, a website covering food and travel topics, has put together a list of “The 101 Best Pizzas in America.”

This list is focused on locally-owned favorites. It scoured Yelp and other review sites, looked at local media coverage, and took suggestions from its readers to compile the list.

Wilson’s Pizza & Grill, 1801 Quindaro Blvd., Kansas City, Kansas, was No. 100 on the list.

The Daily Meal called it a “hidden American gem” that reviewers say is often busy but worth the wait. It said meat lovers should try the 18th Street Special with pepperoni, sausage, beef, ham, mushrooms, onions, black olives, green peppers and the house-blend mozzarella.

The menu also includes onion rings, burgers, Buffalo wings, calzones, pizza fries and fish sandwiches.

Gary Wilson opened the restaurant in 1993 and moved to his current location in 1998.

“You can see it being made fresh and I use the best ingredients I can get,” Wilson said Thursday.
