COVID-19 update: Here’s reason P.F. Chang’s on the Country Club Plaza temporarily closed

P.F. Chang’s, an Asian restaurant chain on the Country Club Plaza, is still closed after more than a week.

A sign on the door dated Aug. 10 reads: “Due to unforeseen circumstances we are closed for the remainder of the day. We at P.F. Chang’s KC apologize for the inconvenience and we are working to open back up ASAP!”

In a statement Thursday afternoon, a P.F. Chang’s spokeswoman said: “Out of an abundance of caution, P.F. Chang’s has made the decision to temporarily close the Kansas City location after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. The location will undergo a full cleaning in accordance with standards recommended by the CDC. As always, we continue working with local authorities and health experts to ensure the appropriate steps to address the needs of our employees, guests, and the broader community. All CDC guidelines including masks, gloves, and symptom checks with team members are enforced at all P.F Chang’s locations.”

She said the restaurant hopes to reopen Aug. 21.

P.F. Chang’s opened at 102 W. 47th St. in November 1999, according to The Kansas City Star’s archives.
