Abusive language, no masks: KC restaurant temporarily shut down after inspector denied
Los Corrals has been operating downtown for more than seven decades.
But the Mexican restaurant, at 408 W. Ninth St., is currently closed after its license was suspended earlier this month.
According to the Kansas City Health Department, a person in charge at the restaurant refused to let a health department supervisor and inspector enter to conduct an inspection on July 1 and was “excessively aggressive,” using “extremely abusive language and foul words towards regulated authority.”
The person in charge said he would not require employees to wear face masks and that the health department had no authority inside of his establishment, according to the department.
The restaurant’s license is suspended pending a meeting with the program manager to discuss options for reopening.
On Thursday, the owner of Los Corrals, which opened in 1949, declined to comment.
A message on its answering machine, as well as its website, says it is closed for “failure to comply with the mask order.”
“We are in the process of reinstatement and will update when we plan to re-open,” it said on the website.
