Two of the area’s five Macy’s reopen with safety measures. What’s status of the others?

Macy’s is reopening its Town Center Plaza store in Leawood on May 18, as well as its Oak Park Mall store and freestanding furniture gallery in Overland Park.

The stores will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

New COVID-19 safety measures include frequent and enhanced cleaning in heavily trafficked areas and on hard surfaces; social distancing guidelines to maintain six feet between all customers and employees; sanitation stations in frequently visited locations throughout the store; and plexiglass at select registers.

Macy’s also is requiring employees to wear face masks to help prevent the spread of the virus and is doing daily employee wellness checks before each shift.

It is offering contact-free curbside pick-up.

Macy’s also has locations in Independence Center in Independence, Metro North Crossing in the Northland, and Summit Fair in Lee’s Summit. Macy’s officials didn’t provide reopening dates for those locations.
