Leawood brewery and restaurant closes its doors as parent company files for bankruptcy

Park Place’s Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant has closed.

In a statement this week, parent company CraftWorks Holdings LLC in Nashville announced Chaper 11 bankruptcy reorganization to reduce the company’s debt and strengthen liquidity. It said it had recently closed 37 of its “underperforming locations.”

The company did not return calls or emails, but Park Place officials confirmed the Leawood closing.

Along with Gordon Biersch, CraftWorks operates such brands as Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom and Logan’s Roadhouse.

Gordon Biersch opened in a freestanding building at 11652 Ash St. in Park Place in September 2011, offering American-style Kobe sliders, mahi-mahi fish tacos and hand-crafted beers.

It also was an original tenant in the Power & Light District but closed that location in mid-2017.

There are a half dozen Old Chicago locations in the metro and one in Lawrence.
