Multi-tenant building to fill empty midtown lot with restaurant drive-thru, retail

Midtown could soon have another restaurant with a drive-thru.

Metro Plaza LLC wants to put up a multi-tenant building at 125 E. Linwood Blvd., in front of the Home Depot and just east of Taco Bell.

A 2,398-square-foot space on the west side would be for a retailer.

A 1,400-square-foot space on the east side would be for a restaurant with drive-thru. Lutfi’s Fried Fish hopes to relocate to the space from its current spot at 3037 Main St., said Yawni Haggins, a Lutfi’s manager.

The proposed building has been approved by city planning and will next go through the Board of Zoning Adjustment.

Barry Pener is listed as the contact for the development but he did not return phone calls or emails.

A spokeswoman for the Old Hyde Park Historic District said the developer consulted them. However, she said the building would add more driveways that would cut through sidewalks, making the stretch less pedestrian-friendly.
