At new Northland creperie, you have options: savory for a meal or sweet for a treat

On the menu at this new Northland creperie is The Original.

The crepe has a tart lemon cream filling and is topped with blueberry reduction, whipped cream and fresh mint. It’s a nod to the crepes Sandra Zuercher grew up on.

“My mother was always in the kitchen whipping up food,” Zuercher said. “She was very hospitable, and we wanted to share that with Kansas City.”

When Zuercher relocated to the area from California four years ago, she missed having a creperie nearby. So her brother-in-law backed her in the new cafe, Crepe KC, just five minutes from her home, and just north of Gladstone.

She uses her Romanian mother’s original crepe batter recipe — later perfected between the two — and some creative fillings.

Menu: The offerings include savory crepes for a meal such as the BLT with avocado, diced tomato, bacon bits and chopped spinach; and the Caprese with fresh mozzarella, pesto, tomato, basil and balsamic glaze. Dessert crepes include the Nutella with banana and powdered sugar.

The shop also has coffee drinks, Rishi tea, chai and matcha.

Hours: Grand opening hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 10 and Jan. 11. (depending on weather conditions; see its Facebook page).

Regular hours will be 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 2 to 9 p.m. Friday; and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. It is closed Sunday and Monday.
