Lawrence poke bowl & sushi burrito restaurant opens in south KC with ramen on the menu
Pokeloha just opened in Lawrence in March, but the owners have already expanded with a Kansas City restaurant that features even more menu items.
Both the new location— at 8827 State Line Road on the southern edge of Ward Parkway Center — and the Lawrence location offer signature poke bowls, including the Salmon Oasis (salmon, spicy salmon, edamame, sweet corn, cucumber, mango, masago, green onion, red cabbage, Yummy sauce and sweet shoyu), and the Vegan of the Sea (double tofu, cucumber, sweet corn, carrot, edamame, cilantro, sweet onion, wasabi aioli, citrus ponzu, avocado, green onion, sunflower seeds and sesame seeds).
Customers also can create their own poke bowls and sushi burritos with such protein choices as chicken, shrimp, calamari salad, crab meat and salmon (uncooked). Sides include crab Rangoon, seaweed salad and miso soup. The shops also serve Japanese soda, jasmine tea, and mochi ice cream.
But the new location has an expanded menu that includes a variety of ramen bowls and boba teas.
Cyndi Lin, general manager and a partner, said the two locations are owned by an investment group that also owns poke bowl shops in Florida under different names. Most of the investors are based in New York.
“I graduated from KU and really like Lawrence, so that’s how that one started. And Kansas City is my hometown,” Lin said. “It’s a really healthy food concept and high quality.”
