Austin-based restaurant chain bringing its ‘damn good tacos’ to Ward Parkway Center

Austin-based chain Torchy’s Tacos is entering the market with a new location at Ward Parkway Center.

It is taking a 3,500-square-foot space at 8815 State Line Road in “The Pavilion,” the center’s restaurant district. A spring 2020 opening is scheduled.

MidiCi the Neapolitan Pizza Co. formerly had the space between Smitty’s Garage and Charleston’s.

Under “Damn Good Tacos” on the menu, Torchy’s offers such selections as the Trailer Park with fried chicken, green chiles, lettuce, pico de gallo and cheddar jack cheese with poblano sauce on a flour tortilla. “Get it trashy” by taking off the lettuce and adding queso.

The Tipsy Chick has marinated and grilled chicken and a side of bacon bourbon marmalade.

Other menu items include breakfast tacos, salads, burritos, chips and dips, street corn, refried beans, Mexican rice and desserts. It will have a full-service bar.

A company official declined to confirm the Ward Parkway lease but said the chain would have an announcement in about a week.

Torchy’s has more than 60 locations in Arizona, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas.
