Plaza restaurant near planned Nordstrom shuts down after 8 years
Noodles & Co. has shuttered on the Country Club Plaza.
The chain opened at 540 Nichols Road in March 2010, replacing a McDonald’s that had operated in the spot for more than 30 years.
A sign on the door, posted upside-down Wednesday morning, says: “We’re leaving but won’t be far. Visit us at our nearest location” and directs customers to its restaurant at 7600 State Line Road in Prairie Village.
In a statement, Noodles & Co. said: “We are constantly evaluating our portfolio of restaurants and recently made the difficult decision to close our Plaza location. We appreciate the patronage of area residents who’ve dined with us at this location over the years and we invite our guests to join us at our nearby State Line location. All team members at this location have been offered positions in our nearby restaurants.”
Plaza officials declined to comment.
The fast-casual Noodles & Company, which was founded in 1995 in Denver, Colo., offers noodle and pasta dishes, soups and salads. The Plaza location is across the street from the future Nordstrom, scheduled to open in 2021.
